The Silver Lining

{Greyheadness:}
The loss of hair color due to a
gradual fall in melanin production in the hair bulb.

What does that mean? Hair color is produced by tiny hair pigment cells/melanin or color within our hair shafts. As we age, the production of those pigments gradually declines until our hair stops making pigment/color. New hairs grow in without pigment, resulting in grey hair. How does this translate for our lovely natural hair? "The Senile Stage" {as described by one of our followers... Thanks Naomi!} Mean & grey stubborn strands that refuse to curl. Unfortunately there is no scientific evidence that any diet, herb, supplement, or product can reduce or reverse grey hair. But why worry, many people look fab with grey hair!

Need I say more?

So what should we do with those unruly silver linings?
Usually people notice their first grey hairs near their temples. Then the greyness spreads to the crown, and later to the back of the head. The best advice I can give is to show a little extra care to those area with creamy oil based moisturizers, shea butter is a great organic way to show a lil' TLC. You can also "train" your hair to curl by two strand twists or coiling the hair often. Love those streaks of wisdom and always look for the
{Silver Lining} amoust the curls & twirls!

The Weekend Wave *repost*

Around this time of year we often have family coming to visit or we ourselves go out of town to visit family... or we just have events to attend.  I thought it would be nice to revisit some formal styles. I added a few styles since the last post.

ALSO check out http://www.ilovemyhair.com/ ! She has some great prints you can buy to express your love for natural hair. Cute stuff!!

FORMAL STYLES
 So in light of an upcoming formal event I am attending, I thought "oh goodness my hair!" Summer (and winter) is jam packed with weddings, dinners, parties & the like. Events where you have to jazz it up a bit. Here's the key ALWAYS do a practice run on a style you are interested in before the actual event! Play around with accessories, flowers & hair charms. After going through the former WEEKEND WAVES I decided with my length and texture I'm going with a roller set style! What formal styles work for you? Why not start this weekend checking out styles that interest you, that way you're not rushed and panicked when your invitations arrive!
Let's hear from you!! Pictures from any recent formal/semi-formal events you've been to? Seen any really great styles you want to try out? Share with your community of natural chic divas!

Have a brillant weekend everyone!
