The Weekend Wave

Coils

Hello kinky curlys! This style is great for short hair.
Whether you use your fingers or a comb, coils are a great way to define your curl pattern.
What you will need:

  • Damp hair (spray bottle)

  • moisturizer

  • holding substance*

  • Comb or fingers

Before beginning make sure the hair is COMPLETELY detangled and moisturized WELL! This will prevent breakage. (*try to use a holding substance without alchool or anything that will make your hair hard. This will also lead to breakage)
If using your fingers: Part hair or free style, start at the root of each small section of the hair, using your holding substance, pull hair section taunt while twisting all the way to the tip of the hair. Repeat.
If using a comb: Part hair or free style in small sections using your holding substance on the individual section of hair, without touching the scalp start close to the root with the comb on that section of the hair, run comb through the section slightly twisting at the tip of the hair before pulling comb completely through. Repeat.
Depending on the length of your hair the effect will be different.

This is a spring and summer time fave! It allows the scalp to breath and cools you down all while giving your kinks a kick of definition! Enjoy your weekend {GO} girls & gents!

Limp Hair?

Did you know...
limp hair is often the result of product build-up? Some of us choose the co-wash method {using only conditioner to wash our hair} some opt for shampoo. Which ever the case, once we moisturize, product build-up can easily result in limp locs. Here's a tip!
{Apple Cider Vinegar}
The vinegar is a powerful astringent that can cleanse the hair shaft of any locked in build-up.
What to do?
Use about a cup of regular Apple Cider Vinegar in the shower... be careful the smell may take a few minutes for you to adjust to... Hey It's VINEGAR! LOL
Before you bathe, pour half a cup into your hair, massage your scalp gently & rinse. Repeat! Be sure to rinse completely out & apply a light moisturizer to damp hair.
You will notice a fantasic shine to your light revived kinks!

Weekend Wave

Twists
Twists are super low maintance, so versatil and well... cute!
Whether you pin them up or let them hang loose, twists are a fresh way to let your strands rest for a couple days while helping out your curl pattern.
What you need:

  • Damp hair

  • Moisturizer and/or holding substance

  • Comb or fingers

  • Ouchless hair holder
For free form twist, if your hair is already detangled your fingers will do the job. Simply make a part on which ever section of your head you want to start on ( I usually part my hair like I would be doing cornrows). Then take a smaller square section of that part and divide it into two pieces (think of pulling apart a Twizzler). Using your moisturizer and/or holding substance, wrap those two pieces around one another from the root to the tip... and that's a twist! Repeat, repeat, repeat until your hold head is done!
Get funky with it, pin 'em up, put 'em in a ponytail, or just rock them loose and flowing!
It's all up to you how you want to ride the Twists Weekend Wave... just be sure to RIDE!
