Weather the Waves

What to do with dry, brittle hair?  This cold weather is not helping... let alone windy, rainy days. Remember to protect your hair with the proper amount of moisture. It makes a MAJOR difference.

Here's a tip!  Take a spray bottle with filtered water add 2-3 tablespoons vegetable glycerin (found at most grocery stores or farmer's markets) shake well and spray on your kinky curls for a boost of moisture and shine.

The Weekend Wave: SPECIAL EDTION

*RePost* I think it's important to revisit this post seeing as the weather is changing and our hair tends to need a little extra care during this season.
Protective Styles for Natural Hair

We love our curls, kinks, napps, locs... so we do all we can to nuture them. We wash or co-wash, condition, moisturize, oil, deep condition...and on and on. Well {GO} is here to help you on your mission to cultivate your organic hair! Here are a few styles & tools that help protect your tresses!

#1 Cornrows

It's a great way to let your hair "rest." Sometimes we manipulate our hair too much which can create dry, brittle hair that can lead to breakage. You can also keep this style for up to two weeks with no fuss. Cover your hair at night with a silk or satin bonnet, lightly moisturize each day and your good to {GO}! Make sure the cornrows are not too tight, that would only create MORE damage by pulling on the scalp.

#2 Scarfs & Head Wraps
FIRST AND FOREMOST! SILK or SATIN people! Please do NOT put cotton, rayon, polyester or any absorbing material on your tender mane. They strip your hair of moisture and accomplish the opposite of what you are intending to do. Okay... now that's out the way...
There are soo many styles and patterns out there to choose from, a great scarf or head wrap can compliment just about any chic fashion you choose! "HOW TO" YOU ASK? Follow the diagrams below:

Protective styles are worn for many reasons, but they can be fun, sassy & chic with a little fore thought. Some other styles to look into could be two strand twists. You can really concentrate on your ends by adding extra drops of oil or your fave moisturizer and pin your twists up in a funky updo. Just remember to take tender care of your natural dos... your curls, kinks & napps will love you for it!
Have a splendid weekend and why not catch the wave with a Protective Style!

Weekend Wave

The wonderful world of versatile locs.  Don't you love it when you see other natural people love their hair? And they show it off with different styles and ornaments to accentuate their particular fashion?
WELL I DO!

Shown here in different transitions & lengths... locs are super adaptable and fun. So have fun with them, don't think a pony tail is your only option.

{GO} is still showing love to all our transitioners.  Check out AMBROSIA! Her journey should inspire you to keep it up!
Enjoy your weekend, stay healthy everyone!

Out and About-What's going on?

Everyone has their opinion about Chris Rock's movie-  One columnist at the Miami Herald has some interesting thoughts on the subject.  We have heard so many negative things, lets read a little positive motivation for natural women to continue- This is an exert from his column "So if it's about the need to be beautiful, maybe it's time somebody told you: You already are. You always were."    - Leonard Pitts, Jr

Who is in the mirror?

On this journey you may uplift and encourage others to embrace their natural selves without trying.  You may even educate people about the beauty of natural hair.  What will this journey reveal about you? Are you loyal, upright, kind, honest and caring to others?  But, who really is the person in the mirror?  At the end of the day, only you can answer.
Stay positive and true...
