Weekend Wave ~ EXCLUSIVE

Good day {GO} girls & guys.
For the past couple of weeks I have been having more and more people coming to me for hair advice, in particular products. The main concern I have run across is that people want something natural that actually works!
Well I have an EXCLUSIVE TIP just for you.
*psssss... it's really not that exclusive, sorry, just gotta be honest :)*

What you need:
Virgin Coconut Oil  & Olive Oil
Mix equal parts of each
Semi-saturate your hair with oil and cover with a warm towel for 5-15mins
Wash &/or condition your hair as usual

You will notice a luster to your strains and also curl definition. Try it for yourself and let us know the results!  Basically you've created your own hot oil treatment without the chemicals and preservatives. ALL NATURAL and IT WORKS WONDERS!
Keep it up... if you don't see results the first time, you may have extremely dry hair.. give it a few trys and watch your hair come to life.

African Americans Let's find Acceptance Among Us

As we have been discussing Chris Rock's Good Hair documentary there is a hum of another type
Skin Color
IF WE CAN'T put away the foolishness that came with the brown paper bag test, WHY SHOULD ANYONE ELSE?
WE are in an age that WE CAN put away all those slavery ties, lets enjoy our freedom as a people and insist on everyone with shades of difference to find joy as well. What is your thinking on this? Holler

{GO} girls Out and About

The Beauty of the Natural Hair Style is still unrecognized by the majority of the current society.  Essence Magazine reported on a young college student who was running for College Campus Beauty Queen.  The campus administration requested the queen adjust her natural hair to fit the Queen look.  She had to straighten her hair for the look.  What about being true to yourself and living up to inner beauty? The struggle continues...

Stay tuned for words from Dr. Kathleen...

Oprah and Chris Rock - Good Hair

The Good Hair Documentary was produced by Chris Rock to assist his little Daughter to appreciate her Natural Hair. Of course Chris Rock took a humorous approach to the thoughts presented. But there are serious Consequences for African Americans. Your Natural hair can prevent or cause you to loose your job or prevent you from receiving certain priviledges. Why Can't the African Americans experience the same Freedoms as other Americans to be Natural? What is your opinion?

Meaningful Mondays

Are you positive? Is the glass half full or half empty?

Does positivity exude from your person? Usually being natural gives you a stronger sense of self, a boldness if you will, confidence...  While on this journey, make your outlook a positive one.  Make the straight hairs wonder... what is it with those natural girls? They are always smiling and oh so positive...

The Weekend Wave

Coils

Hello kinky curlys! This style is great for short hair.
Whether you use your fingers or a comb, coils are a great way to define your curl pattern.

What you will need:

  • Damp hair (spray bottle)

  • moisturizer

  • holding substance*

  • Comb or fingers

Before beginning make sure the hair is COMPLETELY detangled and moisturized WELL! This will prevent breakage. (*try to use a holding substance without alchool or anything that will make your hair hard. This will also lead to breakage)
If using your fingers: Part hair or free style, start at the root of each small section of the hair, using your holding substance, pull hair section taunt while twisting all the way to the tip of the hair. Repeat.
If using a comb: Part hair or free style in small sections using your holding substance on the individual section of hair, without touching the scalp start close to the root with the comb on that section of the hair, run comb through the section slightly twisting at the tip of the hair before pulling comb completely through. Repeat.
Depending on the length of your hair the effect will be different.

This is a spring and summer time fave! It allows the scalp to breath and cools you down all while giving your kinks a kick of definition! Enjoy your weekend {GO} girls & gents!

Meaningful Monday

There have been some recent discussions about black women and their hair.... particularly since Chris Rock is promoting his new film "Good Hair."   Your hair... let's make this meaningful... your hair does NOT make you.  Just like your skin color, eye color, the shape of your nose nor the height of your stature. You make YOU.
So go remind yourself... maybe India.Irie can help you out "I Am Not My Hair!"  Say it will me...
Your hair should be a reflection of what you want to represent to the world. Is it neat? Is it clean?  Is it naturally yours? Well for goodness sake... let's hope it's curly, nappy or kinky!
